DIY: Facebook Custom Page Name (URL) and Verifying Your Page

Last week, we talked about how to set up your business Facebook page.  Next, get your custom page name and verify the page!

First, create your custom username.  Your Page's username will appear below your Page's name and in your Page's URL to help people find and remember your Page. An example of a username could be @caneycreekstudio if the Page name is Caney Creek Studio. To create a username for your Page:

  1. Click Create Page @Username on the left side of your Page

  2. Enter a username

  3. If the username is available, click Create Username

If the username you want is already taken or not approved, you'll need to choose a different one. Make sure the username you're trying to create follows the guidelines for custom usernames. Keep in mind that new Pages may not immediately be able to create a username, and that your Page's username may be removed because of inactivity.

Next, verifying your Business Facebook page increases your presence in Facebook search ranking, and increases your internal Facebook score.  Verifying your page gives the page that little check mark beside the page name. Verifying your page can be easy.  Click Settings, General, Page Verification, Verify this Page.  Click the Call Me Now button or upload a document to prove the existence of your business (business license, utility, etc.).  Facebook will respond within a few days to confirm your verification! If you are a Real Estate Agent and have your personal mobile number on your business page, you will likely need to upload a document to have your page verified.  We suggest taking a good picture of your real estate license and submitting that as your document.  We have used the license to verify numerous pages. Contact us if you would like any assistance!
